Overview
Intrinsically safe transmitter for flammable gases
If flammable gases and vapors need to be monitored in Ex zone 0, the intrinsically safe IR29 i transmitter is a reliable and robust solution. The IR29 i transmits measured values and status displays in analog (4-20 mA). It is connected via a safety barrier (SB1, SB1 D or Zener barrier) to prevent the ignition of power lines within the Ex zone. In combination with GfG's proven controllers, installation in new gas detection systems as well as retrofitting in existing systems is possible.
The IR29 i uses non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) sensor technology to detect combustible gases and vapors. Our patented 4-beam and 4-wavelength technology with gold-plated mirror optics, which do not require any beam splitters, is used to ensure selective measurement results without false alarms. The infrared sensors used also enable measurements above the lower explosion limit (LEL), do not require oxygen and are not susceptible to sensor poisons. The long-life sensors make the IR29 i a permanently reliable solution for detecting a wide range of combustible gases and vapors in the 0 to 100 % LEL measuring range. Its automatic temperature compensation and the linearization of the measurement signals ensure high measurement accuracy.
Communication and service
The IR29 i communicates via the 4-20 mA industry standard signal. Two status LEDs are used to indicate its operation status. If you use one of our safety barriers with display, measured values and status indications can also be read safely outside the Ex zone. Service and adjustments are performed on site using the optional RC2 remote control (one-person adjustment). The IR29 I's self-monitoring function increases device safety between maintenance intervals. Test gases for function tests and adjustments can be inserted via a calibration adapter.
Safety and instrument protection
The IR29 i is ATEX-certified for use in Ex zone 0. It complies with the intrinsic safety "i" standard, which is required for use in many industrial and mining applications. The V4A stainless steel and poly-carbonate housing is protected against ingress of dust and water (protection class: IP67). Available accessories include a guard plate and dust filter.
