Epoxy Castable Mounting
The most common and best-performing castable resins are epoxy-based. These are two-part liquid systems consisting of a resin and hardener. Mixing ratios vary by mount size, larger mounts require less hardener. Advantages of mounting with epoxy resins include: low shrinkage, relatively clear, relatively low exotherm, excellent adhesion, excellent chemical resistance, good hardness, relatively inexpensive.
ULTRATHIN 2 Plus hardener is the Low Viscosity Epoxy Hardener manufactured by PACE Technologies. This hardener is a critical component of a two-part castable mounting system used in metallographic sample preparation to encapsulate fragile or porous specimens.
A low-viscosity hardener designed to be mixed with ULTRATHIN 2 Plus Epoxy Resin for cold mounting.
Ratio is 18:5 (Resin: Hardener).
