Epoxy Castable Mounting
The most common and best-performing castable resins are epoxy-based. These are two-part liquid systems consisting of a resin and hardener. Mixing ratios vary by mount size, larger mounts require less hardener. Advantages of mounting with epoxy resins include: low shrinkage, relatively clear, relatively low exotherm, excellent adhesion, excellent chemical resistance, good hardness, relatively inexpensive.
The PACE Technologies EPF-2500-2 is a premium, glass-filled epoxy-phenolic edge retention compression mounting resin, available in a 2.5 kg container. It is designed specifically for metallographic sample preparation to maintain edge sharpness and reduce rounding during grinding and polishing.
Features:
- Provides superior edge retention for metallographic sample preparation.
- Composition - Glass-filled epoxy-phenolic (thermosetting resin).
It is commonly used in high-precision laboratory settings requiring edge conservation of materials like coatings, thin films, or uneven surfaces.
