Castable mounting uses room-temperature resins to encapsulate specimens, ideal for heat-sensitive or fragile materials. This method supports multiple samples and cures through resin-hardener polymerization to form a durable mount.

Castable acrylics are easy to use and highly durable. Their primary advantage is a fast curing time. Depending on the mixing ratio, castable acrylic mounts are typically ready for use within 8-15 minutes. Unlike epoxy resins, the ratio between the acrylic components-powder and liquid-can be adjusted by up to 25% without negatively affecting the final properties of the mount. This flexibility is possible because both the liquid and powder are acrylic-based materials containing various additives and curing agents. By adjusting the liquid-to-powder ratio, the curing time and viscosity of the mixture can be controlled to meet specific application requirements.
