Irrometer RSU-C Remote Sensing Unit 4-20 mA Current Output - (1/4 NPT)

The IRROMETER RSU-C is a 4-20mA current output sensor representing 0 to 100 kPa (cb) of soil water tension, which can be installed in the gauge port of any IRROMETER Tensiometer to make it compatible with loT or control devices.

Operation:

• 9-36VDC is supplied to the RSU-C using the RED (+) and BLACK (-) wires. The output is obtained by measuring the current in series on the RED (+) wire.

Output Conversion:

• (Output -4) / 0.16 = kPa (cb) of soil water tension

Cable Considerations:

• Each RSU-C comes with 3ft of 20AWG 2c cable, but additional cable can be added if necessary using recommended 18-20 AWG 2c cable and waterproof splices.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• Do not use water containing chlorine or sulfur in tensiometers equipped with an RSU-C.
• When de-airing or servicing an RSU-C equipped tensiometer, care must be taken to release the vacuum slowly. A sudden release of vacuum could cause damage to the pressure transducer, requiring complete replacement of the sensor.
