IBI's Tryptone Overview

IBI's Tryptone is a high-quality pancreatic digest of casein, primarily used as a nitrogen source in culture media. It effectively supports the growth of both fastidious and non-fastidious microorganisms. The absence of detectable carbohydrates in Tryptone makes it ideal for differentiating bacteria based on their ability to ferment various carbohydrates.

It can be used for indole production because of its high tryptophane concentration. It is also recommended by IBI as a casein peptone in media used for detecting bacteria in dairy products, drinking and waste water, and in antibiotic test media.
