The M161-2L is designed to be an entry-level microscope for students, with a rugged build that will last for years. The compact design allows the microscope to be used just about anywhere. A convenient handle is built into the form for carrying around, and its ability to run on AC power or batteries makes it an ideal travel companion.

High-quality glass optics are used to provide clear, sharp images. Three objective lenses (4X, 10X, 40X) can be selected for increasing levels of magnification. Two eyepieces are included (10X, 20X) to increase the total magnification range to 40X-1000X. This will accommodate a wide variety of specimens, including cells, bacteria, and even sand. With two built-in lights, you can switch from the lower light -- which is used for slides -- to the top light for opaque specimens. The head can be rotated 360° to match the user's preference.

Everything needed to start using the microscope is in the box, including a starter set of slides with a mix of already-prepared slides, and some blank ones for preparing your own. To make things even better, we added a collection of 6 cards featuring fun and educational experiments for kids and grown-ups alike. Over a dozen activities will provide a clear and easy lesson-plan, designed to inspire interest in STEM education.
