Frequently Asked Questions
What is a pressure switch and how does it work?
A pressure switch senses pressure in a line and reacts at a set value. When that point is reached, the contacts change and the pump or compressor turns on or off so the system stays in its normal working range.
How do I choose the correct pressure range and cut-in/cut-out settings?
Start with your normal operating pressure and pump limits. Choose pressure switches whose range covers that band. Set cut in a little below your usual low point and cut out just above the highest pressure you want the system to reach. For systems with pressure tanks, factor in tank precharge when setting differentials. Use regulators to maintain stable downstream pressure.
What enclosure rating do I need for my installation, NEMA or IP?
Match the enclosure to the environment. Clean indoor panels usually only need basic NEMA or IP ratings. For outdoor, damp or washdown areas, use sealed housings so electronic pressure switches and wiring stay protected from dust and water.
