T800 Series Professional Grade Polarized-Light Trinocular Compound Microscope 50X-500X with Dual Illumination and 5.3MP USB 2.0 C-mount Camera
Key Features:
Built for precision and flexibility, the T800-PZ delivers excellence in both form and function. This polarized-light microscope uses infinity-corrected optics with semi-apochromatic, low-strain objective lenses to ensure the highest quality images are produced. It’s equipped with a lockable rotating stage and an assortment of wave plates for birefringence testing, and a full-featured Bertrand lens for conoscopic and orthoscopic observation. Dual illuminations systems provide transmitted and reflected lighting with full polarization on both light-paths. This instrument’s flexibility makes it ideal for geology and mineralogy, materials inspection, and medical practices alike.
Viewing Head
The microscope's head is designed for precision and comfort. The super-widefield optics provide a larger field-of-view so you can see more specimen at any magnification. Compensation-free Siedentopf interpupillary adjustment allows any user to properly align the oculars without readjusting focus. For users with astigmatism or asymmetrical vision, the left ocular can be adjusted to fine-tune focus. The photo port is equipped with a C-mount interface for attaching cameras without intermediary lenses, and is height-adjustable to match focus with the eyepieces. The port is compatible with our CX series C-mount ports which are available with different levels of magnification for cameras with different sensor formats. An optional 23mm port adapter is available for use with 23mm reduction lenses. The head is set to a 30° incline which is ideal for viewing from a standing position, and it can be rotated 360°.
Betrand Lens
The Bertand lens allows the user to quickly switch between normal orthoscopic and conoscopic observation. This is required to shift to the rear focal plane for proper alignment of the aperture diaphragm, and to observe interference patterns created by minerals under polarized light. The lens assembly has a slot for the included first-order, quarter-wave, and quartz-wedge retardation plates.
Optics
The infinity-corrected optical system eliminates optical errors when using filters and other in-line components, which is of paramount importance in polarized-light microscopy. The quadruple objective turret provides instant access to 4 lenses to efficiently move through magnifications from 50X to 500X. The turret's reversed orientation provides more working room above the stage. These high-quality lenses are strain-free to ensure accurate observation under polarized light, with planatic and semi-apochromatic corrections for superior resolution and field flatness for edge-to-edge sharpness. Each objective can be independently centered to ensure proper alignment.
The Stage
The rotating stage is designed for observing optical characteristics of specimens which vary by angle relative to the orientation of polarized light. Once centered, the specimen can be rotated to locate its axis and tested for birefringence. The sub-stage polarizer can also be rotated to avoid stage movement when working with specimens with weaker birefringence. Centerable objective lenses and condenser help ensure proper alignment for accurate results.
Koehler Transmitted Illumination
Built on Koehler illumination principals, the sub-stage lighting provides evenly-distributed light for optimal contrast. The rear-mounted 50W incandescent light-source provides 100 CRI illumination with ample brightness for contrast-enhancement methods like darkfield. The lower color temperature of the halogen light-source causes less eyestrain compared to high-Kelvin LED, and covers the full spectrum with better penetration. The light condenser uses a swing mechanism to vary numerical aperture for optimized lighting at both high and low magnifications. An iris diaphragm allows you to adjust the aperture to optimize contrast and depth-of-field. The condenser uses a rotatable polarizer for diascopic polarization. It uses rack-and-pinion height adjustment for precision control, and is centerable for proper alignment. The condenser is top-mounted for easier replacement when working with additional condensers. The illuminator's field lens provides an iris diaphragm to control light-spread, optimizing contrast and definition in specimen features.
Koehler Reflected Illumination
The top illuminator also uses a 50W incandescent light-source to provide ample light for use with polarization. Adjustable aperture and field diaphragms offer precise control over the light field for improved contrast and edge sharpness. A removable polarizer board provides polarization for reflected illumination. The analyzer is equipped with a dial to control the angle of cross-polarization.
Digital Imaging
Monitor and capture photos and videos with the included 5.3MP USB2.0 camera. The highly-sensitive back-illuminated sensor is designed for improved low-light imaging, making it suitable for fluorescence and darkfield microscopy. A 0.5X reduction lens is included for use with 23mm-30.5mm ports to capture more of the microscope's field-of-view. Our professional software for Windows provides a wide assortment of capture and photo-editing functions including color correction, time-lapse capture, image stitching, and a full complement of measuring tools. A lite version of our software is available for Mac and Linux with essential functionality for capturing photos and videos.
