Bromophenol Blue is used as a tracking dye to monitor the progress of electrophoresis separation. Bromophenol Blue usually comigrates with DNA molecules around 0.5kb. Therefore, Bromophenol Blue provides an index of the mobility of the fastest fragments and is valuable in determining the length of the gel over which the separation of DNA has occurred.
